The Evolution of Tattoo Art

This thesis deals with tattoo history, mainly within the Western civilisation. Further, it depicts situation in communist Czechoslovakia, where tattooing as a profession was officially non-existent. The transition of modern society's attitude towards tattooed people, which has changed a lot through time, is being analysed here. It was enabled by mass media and social media, which is clarified in this thesis, as well. Different aspects of tattoo artist's job and environment of tattoo parlours in last hundred years are approached. Thesis analyses the most essential tattoo styles of modern times and an attitude towards the process of choosing the very motif. Last but not least it presents hand poke, or a way of tattooing by hand only - without tattoo machine. It focuses on problematic placements of tattoo motifs on human skin and the way in which they influence work life and private life of their owner. Motivation of an individual to get a tattoo and meanings of the tattoo, if there are any, are also depicted. Nowadays issue of self-tattooing, its reasons and negative consequences linked to such behaviour are interpreted here as well.
The Subculture of Tattoo - The Content Analysis of Inked Magazine

The theses named Subculture of a tattoo, Content analysis of a magazine Inked is primary focused on the nowadays phenomenon of a tattoo, there then the whole development of this social subculture. The aim of this thesis is to sum up and analyse the term of subculture, to see in detail the historical beginnings and development of tattooing, to describe functions, motivations and the reasons of an actual act of a tattoo. The main focus will be set on the American lifestyle magazine Inked. I will try to analyse this printed media, which targets on the tattoo subculture, culture itself, style and art. This thesis will characterise the magazine and will basically follow the Inked in two year time period. Which are the years 2009 and 2010, my interest is focused in this theme agenda and its development during this period of time. The researching method will then be a quantitative content analysis. Body-art in the trasformation man and woman

The topic of this work is to detect changes and development of contemporary body-art on the human body throughout life. Tattoos as a category of alternative art direction was inspired to create this work mainly with its inconsistencies, opinions differ on whether it is fully classifiable art. Theoretical work is divided into several parts, there will be a main topic of discussion of the tattoo in the cradle of this direction, which represents from 19 century America to date. The first part outlines the general characteristics of the items specified in the-art tattoo industry. Then move to the functional use of the field. In the third part of this work we try to approximate current distribution tattoo procedure followed by the individual motifs with categorical classification. The next chapter will proceed to the actual creation of the tattoo in the historical context and development of techniques in these parts of America, which will be part of this text primarily directed. In the penultimate section, we will focus on looking at the modern American scene from the environment groundbreaking 18th century. The final section should outline the psychological approaches to this field, not only from a historical perspective but also from the standpoint of contemporary psychology of modern society. The text is accompanied by inspiring the drawing artists, especially important for the practical part of this work, which takes us to the very essence of why the work was prepared, but also what resources corresponding to the tattoo was used. At the very end of the work to proceed on whether we can talk about the tattoo as a full-fledged artistic direction that should be accepted as a correct direction belonging to the arts.
